Summer '24 Silver Plate Spoon

Summer '24 Silver Plate Spoon

$185.00

This is a special one, the bowl being cold forged from a silver plate platter salvaged from a thrift store. The original marking from the platter is partially visible on the underside of the bowl. Some patina shows in the bowl which we chose not to polish. The copper middle layer can be seen exposed and polished around the bowl’s edges. I like to match silver bowls with titanium handles because their lightness and beauty suits the delicate silver well. This handle tapers aggressively and is very comfortable. It also shows rainbow coloration from forging in the “neck” area. 10.75” long with a generous bowl.

Our Reforged series are spoons that began life as a much different spoon. I occasionally dig through utensils at thrift stores or yard sales and purchase spoons that are unattractive but are made of thick enough stainless steel to have potential as a different utensil. The steel is heated and “reforged,” altering the shape, texture, and bringing out the beauty and colors in forged steel while retaining the stainless quality of the original spoon.
